Psalm 100 is a brief Hebrew setting for boys’ or children’s choir a cappella. Its dedication gives the work the character of a private memorial within the public form of a psalm.

Lera Auerbach has described Melanie Silverman as an exceptionally courageous child whose presence brought cheerfulness to those around her. The composer played Psalm 100 for Melanie shortly before her death; afterward, a foundation bearing Melanie’s name was created to support cancer research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
