At the Verbier Festival on 26 July 2009, Lera Auerbach’s chamber work Job’s Lament (Hiobs Klage) for violin and piano was premiered by Dmitry Sitkovetsky and the composer at the piano.
In this work, the composer and poet turns to the biblical figure of Job, who, haunted by misfortune, begins to doubt his faith in God. The work is based on Auerbach’s own poem, Job’s Lament.
