The Work
Fair Enough is a ballet / dance work choreographed by Kaloyan Boyadjiev for the Norwegian National Ballet. It premiered outdoors at Linderud gård in Oslo in August 2020, during the pandemic-era program Nasjonalballetten i det fri, which brought ballet into the historic garden landscape of Linderud Manor.
The work is set to Lera Auerbach’s String Quartet No. 10 “Frozen Dreams”. The official production context places the choreography in a nocturnal, forest-inflected atmosphere, with the later archive describing the dancers as a flock of elf-like beings on pointe.
The ballet belongs to a larger 2020 constellation of outdoor and reconfigured performance formats by the Norwegian National Ballet, created in response to the constraints of the pandemic period while preserving the immediacy of live music and live dance.
* In the catalogue, the asterisk indicates choreography to preexisting concert music by Lera Auerbach.
